Visioning statement (draft): “Creatively matching resources with opportunities toward healthy and vibrant community”
Goals:
- Sustain a Tucson Pima County coalition of creative people in all fields.
- Promote/ Brand Tucson as a Creative City internationally.
- Develop language and policy framework for sustainable creative activity, production and distribution.
- Develop web based resources through our site www.creativecity.org
- Creatively organize the greater cultural sector of Tucson
- Reach out to ALL Cultural Creatives.
- Visual communication as important language in modern life.
- Advocate for cultural recovery
- Develop a self sustaining arts funding structure.
- Provide creative consulting services – a think tank of creative problem solvers.
Strategies
- Advocacy for cultural resources at the local, county, state and national level
- Promote visual, emotional and experiential intelligence’s.
- Creativity as an organizing force – creative expressionists.
- Outreach where are all the architects, musicians, lawyers and doctors.
- Intentional cross-sector collaborations.
- Creativity bookshelf – a sampling of community skills, an on line directory.
- Alternative vocabulary to describe creative art making.
- On line resource for arts, artists and creativity – artist ideas and incubation.
- Galvanize – bring together arts community in collaboration – not competition.
- No B.S. sharing – truly collaborative
- Promote Tucson as the SW capital for arts, creativity and innovation, Ask city to push this idea – What is the identity of Tucson we can use in branding?
- Promote a visual ad campaign – like Adbusters – what is a creative city? Build it and they will come.
- Give ourselves permission.
- Demonstration projects that illustrate our ideas and values.
- Promote Green Art Jobs and the rethinking of green industries and resources.
- One stop shopping for all your creative needs at CreativeCity.org
- Branding signs around the city.
- Ambassador program to neighborhood and community centers.
- Distribute cards listing our key points.
- Share resources among artists and community – waste stream as material resource – Revolution in a bottle.
- Visible ad campaign – reveal art as life, close value gap – value of artists as high as value of art.
- Redefine artists and art.

Visioning statement (draft):
“Creative City is a consortium of creative individuals and organizations in all fields. We collaborate to match unique, creative ideas that build self-sustaining community with opportunities toward a healthy and vibrant community. We are mobilizing creative intent. ”
Goals (draft):
1) Galvanize advocacy efforts across all barriers for creative industry in Tucson. Reveal, make relevant and develop passionate broad support for the creative process in all its expressions in a way that benefits everyone in our community. Create a unified voice for our unique healthy, vibrant, beautiful community.
2) Building a resilient community of creative people in all fields to insure (Tucson) is a vibrant city.
3) Promote awareness of the integral nature of creative work in all our lives, and as a force for problem solving, policy, planning and development. Integrate
4) Strengthen and promote creative ways of being and employment. Nurture and model a creative green economy.
5) Increase awareness of the role arts and creativity play in our everyday lives and community. To create a balance and /or bridge between traditional values and innovative thought. Broaden definition of the arts.
